Hvac Controls

Irrespective of the geographical location in which you live, the importance of HVAC systems is indispensable. In some places you will need the system to usher in warm air while in some other regions there will be a huge requirement of cold air to make the internal space of a building comfortable. However, in many of the places HVAC systems are required both for cooling and heating depending on the outside temperature. Hence, it is understandable that HVAC systems accounts for quite a considerable portion of the total energy consumption of the building. Thus, it is important that the system runs efficiently throughout the year. HVAC controllers are an integral part of the system because they monitor the internal conditions, adapts as per load changes and helps to maintain a comfortable temperature that is comfortable.

The parameters which are specifically controlled include temperature, humidity, ventilation and pressure.

The temperature requirement varies from one region to another and from one person to another. However, the rule of thumb for a comfortable temperature is that there should be uniformity of temperature and it should not vary within a single zone. It is also important that the temperature do not change suddenly within a single area.

Effective ventilation is that which removes the exhaled carbon dioxide and other allergens from the room and provides clean oxygen to the people within the building or in a single room. Sometimes, ventilation is also used to remove bad odors from the room. There is a recommended standard of ventilation more than which is not considered good ventilation.

It is the tendency of air pressure to flow from regions of high pressure to regions of low pressure. As a result, generally buildings like hospitals have a slightly high pressure so that impure air from outside cannot move into the room. HVAC controls checks that no impure air gets into the room from outside.

Besides, there are some special control requirements as well. They are fire protection systems, smoke removals systems, clean air systems, hazardous or noxious effluent control and the like.

Some of the commonest control strategies in case of HVAC systems are the following.

One can cycle on and off the control so that it can adjust with the load requirements. However, such an arrangement might have an impact on the life of the system. In that case, a better option is to opt for modulation or proportional control. Another control strategy is staging. This means that more than one small units are installed instead of a large one. As a result of which, the units can function as per requirement.

Last but not the least, some of the benefits of HVAC Controls are the following.

• It maintains thermal comfort conditions
• It takes care of the indoor air capacity
• It reduces energy usage. It also reduces manpower costs.
• With these controls it becomes easier to recognize the problems that the system might be facing.

Thus, opt for a good control system so that your machine runs well and you can also enjoy a comfortable interior temperature.
